I Cry For The Girl
Updated: Jun 25
I cry for the girl
I cry for her
My heart bleeds for her
I feel for her
I cry for the girl I once was
So unsatiated for love, she accepted being used
I cry for the girl I once was
So starved for acceptance, she accepted lies
I cry for the girl I once was
So suffocated for care, she accepted despair
I cry for the girl I once was
So athirst for validation, she accepted toleration
I cry for the girl I once was
So eager to please, she accepted abuse
I cry for the girl I once was
So famished for company, she accepted the enemy
I cry for the girl I once was
So ravenous for authenticity, she accepted mediocrity
I cry for the girl I once was
So hungry for nurture, she accepted spoils
I cry for the girl I once was
So void of family, she accepted trickery
I cry for the girl I once was
So empty of community, she accepted slavery
I cry for the girl
I cry for her
My heart bleeds for her
I feel for her
The girl who settles
Because she's never been taught better
The girl who is too strong
Because she's only known bad weather
The girl who is broken
Because so was her mother (father)
I cry for the girl
Who cries for her mama (papa)
